As is the norm in this group of years, there was plenty of winter rain, which is good for everyone except the pruners. Things were then somewhat average until March, when there was a steady building heat wave over a two week period. This made it extremely annoying for growers and pickers, as many vineyards headed quickly to ripeness at the same time. The minimum overnight was 30 degrees by the end! The resultant wines are ripe, rich and with loads of flavour.
