TASTINGS & Takeaways FROM OUR CELLAR DOOR

The good life continues to bound along.

Still dryer than anyone calling themselves a Victorian cares for, yet times are still wonderful. The GFC (no not Geelong Football Club) but the Global Financial Crisis has had an impact but nothing like the impact many people are feeling. It appears that many of you out there ignored the suggestion to stop drinking fine wine. Well done, life is to short to drink anything less than the Best of the Best and Tuck's Ridge is everyday more and more in demand for being just that.

Our wines are becoming the talking point for many in the around the industry. Top wine in the country two years ago, best Pinot Noir in the country and best Chardonnay in the region last year and now 97 points from James Halliday for our 2007 Buckle Pinot Noir. Not only that, Halliday also called the Buckle Pinot Noir an emblematic wine of the country. High praise indeed. And thats the only wine we know about yet. Keep an eye out for the point score on the 2007 Buckle Chardonnay as well, we think it is a ripper of a wine, better than the 2006 Buckle Chardonnay and that was 96 points.

The 2009 harvest is now complete with some wonderful fruit processed. Not a lot of wine around though. Three days of over 40 degrees and sunny weather pretty much condemes the vines to soem damage. And we were not immune to this. The Chardonnay we harvested was still about right, stunning quality and only a little reduced quantity. The Pinot Noir however was pretty much hard to find and whilst what we managed to get to the winery was as good as we have ever seen, but we didn't get much, so be sure to remember that when the wines are finally released.

The big news though is the sale of Tucks Ridge. More information will come to light once all the i's have dots and the t's are crossed but the word is hold on tight. As lovers of all things Tuck's Ridge your bragging rights may soon extend globally and you may see some developments at the cellar door and cafe site. But rest assured the wines will continue to shine through and we will strive to make more and more great wine in the coming years.

Don't be one of the dissapointed ones drinking inferior wine.Give us a call!
